My engine is leaking out the gaskets so there is oil all over the bottom of the engine and the cable where the cable isn't protected by the black sleeve over it. Though this is premium battery and will last long. Engine batteries lose cranking power over time and should be checked or changed every 3-4 years for reliability.
I note that this post is several years old. I put the key in and the dash lights up like normal. So now I have two cables from the alternator to the battery. I just recently bought a 1994 Toyota 4runner, when we bought it we were told that the alternator was bad in, since then, I have replaced the battery, the alternator and the starter. The alternator I have replaced 3 different times, the last time I got it tested and the alternator is good, and the starter is good. So it is possible, it would be the large ground wire coming from the negative battery terminal.

The bottom of the hold down bolt has a hook shape U-shape that goes through holes in front and back of the battery plate near the battery tray. After a few minutes of turning the key back and forth dash lights will come back on and then I know it will start and it fires right up. On a 1981 Toyota pickup, im unsure of where it is located, but sometimes they are located in the fuse box, as a big fuse usually a 100 amp or 80amp fuse. . I took my starter down to autozone today to see if that had been the culprit but it passed the 3 times they tested it.

Finally get a 'failure' when I can pull over and put multimeter on. I cleaned the actual connection on the block and the terminal itself but it didn't help. . Move the positive cable off to the side of the battery so that it is out of the way when you are ready to remove the battery from the engine. And this was my dream vehicle so it's my first one and I'm trying to get the jist of everything. The smaller size did fit the car and does work, but the inflexiblity of your system will prevent me from ordering online again. I just had it cleaned a month ago.
